WIAW 2/24/16: Home eats

February 24, 2016 in Yummy Eats

Hi guys and happy Wednesday! Thank you SO much for your support on my last post: truly does mean so so much for me and I am incredibly thankful for all of your support!

Half way through the week already! Been very busy with school work and I will be so relieved when it is finally Friday. Going to be sharing some eats from this weekend when I went home today so let’s get started. :) Thank you Jen for the link up! And please remember: do not compare what you eat to what I eat and all that jazz because food comparison will bring you nothing but unhappiness. These posts are just to celebrate the fact we ALL eat!

Breakfast

Egg white oats! I haven’t had egg white oats in a while so it was a nice change. All you have to do is mix in some liquid egg whites and cook the oats like you usually do. Makes your oats so much fluffier and yummier 🙂 Topped them with banana, Earth Balance crunchy coconut peanut butter, and cinnamon

Lunch

Asparagus, mango&strawberries, and an Ezekiel english muffin with mashed avocado+eggs. Seriously avocado and eggs together are PERFECT. Definitely recommend!!

Snacks

My mom made me these banana-chocolate chip muffins from The Real Life RD’s website. Had them with cantaloupe and it made for the perfect snack. 🙂

I was so happy and blessed to have won Jessica’s Love Grown giveaway! I love these products so much. Topped my Siggi’s yogurt with the chocolate mighty flakes and had an apple on the side. So good!

Dinner

Went to Whole Foods with my parents Friday night and got to hit up the salad bar-my favorite thing ever. Had a spinach salad topped with peppers, cauliflower, carrots, cucumber, craisins, feta cheese, golden sesame tofu, and balsamic dressing. Best tofu hands down.

Dessert

I picked up this So Delicious cashew milk ice cream from Whole Foods and obviously had to have some that night. Snickerdoodle ice cream… seriously HEAVENLY.

(Thanks Google images for this pic hehe)

And a weekly reminder:

(Featuring my recovery tat and favorite shoes)

Breathe. You’re going to be okay. This pain you feel is going to pass. Maybe not this moment or today or tomorrow, but sometime soon. The hurt will fade. Don’t give up before things get better. You may be wounded, but you aren’t broken. You can and will heal.”

Now tell me:

Are you a fan of tofu?

Have you ever had Love Grown products?

Do you have any tattoos?

Hope you guys have a great day!

Sending my love as always.

Xoxo

    I love tofu.
I have never had Love Grown Foods, I haven’t seen that here in South Africa.

I have three! A dove from Mulan on my shoulder, a quote on my other shoulder “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all” and the NEDA symbol on my hip! I really want another one, but my wallet is not so enthusiastic.
I’ve never had LoveGrown products, but I will be experimenting with organic foods more often! Also- those muffins are next on my list 😍
I think tofu is great if you cook it well!

Your tattoo is beautiful! If I got a tattoo, that’s where I would want it! I think I want my anniversary in roman numerals.

Love your tattoo! I don’t eat meat, so I do like tofu. I don’t eat it by itself though. I prefer it used in veggie burgers instead 🙂

    Blessings,

Thank you so much! I will have to try it used in veggie burgers 🙂

I’ve read blogs for 3 or 4 years now, and I still have not given egg white oats a shot. I’m bound to try it at some point, I know I will, but something about it still sounds weird! If you like Robyn’s recipes, you have to try out her marbled banana bread! It’s one of my favorites!

    • Reply Alyssa February 25, 2016 at 5:00 am

ah you gotta give them a shot! And I actually have tried that banana bread- it is SO good. All of Robyn’s recipes rock 🙂

Coconut peanut butter sounds awesome! Seriously, your whole bowl of oats looks heavenly. And I’ve really been wanting to try cashew milk ice cream just for fun. The snickerdoodle flavor sounds great!

    • Reply Alyssa February 25, 2016 at 4:58 am

It is so good. Love earth balance peanut butter! You should def try the snickerdoodle flavor… so good!!

  • Reply Ellie February 25, 2016 at 1:44 am

Ginger sesame tofu is the greatest way to make tofu. It is crunchy and sweet and hits me in all the right places. Have you ever made your own? I made ginger sesame tempeh a couple times and that was amazing too! It’s firmer than tofu and really fries up nicely.
I totally mixed cocoa puffs into my banana/PB bowl today. Cornflakes, banana, PB and cocoa puffs made me so happy 🙂
    Have a great day Lyss!

    • Reply Alyssa February 25, 2016 at 4:56 am

I need to try making my own tofu!! Ah that sounds like such a good combo. Cocoa puffs are the best! Hope you had a great day as well 🙂

AHHH TATTOO TWINS <33 Siggi's is amazing... in love with it!! Definitely one of my top yogurts along with chobani 🙂

  • Reply Cora February 25, 2016 at 3:31 am

Cashew milk ice cream!? In Snickerdoodle flavor!? I must find this.
I love tofu – though it does really need to be prepared right. Which is why those salad bars are usually amazing.
I always thought that if I were to get a tattoo I’d get it in about the same spot. Beautiful.
(so sorry if you are getting this twice – I was having trouble with my internet/commenting today)

    • Reply Alyssa February 25, 2016 at 4:55 am

The ice cream is SO good!! Seriously- whole foods salad bars are the best. And no problem at all! The internet can be such a pain haha. Hope you had a great day 🙂

Your eats always look so delicious! I am a fan of tofu, I actually never had it until I went to inpatient treatment for the first time back in 2011, so thank you treatment chefs for cooking yummy tofu 😉 I want to try the Love Grown cereals, I love the all natural ingredients list and the fun flavors.

    • Reply Alyssa February 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm

Wow- huge props for the treatment chefs for giving you guys tofu! Definitely recommend love grown cereals! So so good. Have a great day girl!

  • Reply Kaylee February 25, 2016 at 11:36 pm

Avocado + eggs are the best! I actually had some for breakfast today too. 😆 I lovelovelove tofu!!! Definitely one of the staples in my fridge. I don’t get why people think it’s gross. 😕 Tofu gets such a bad rep. Nope, no tattoos just yet! Though recently I have been thinking more and more about getting one… Hope you had a great day, Alyssa!

    • Reply Alyssa February 26, 2016 at 1:59 pm

Tofu is amazing!! Love it, but it has to be cooked just right! Hope you have a great day as well Kaylee!
