Weekend Recap// Snow, ice cream, and nights out

February 8, 2016 in College

Hi guys and happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. Going to be doing a weekend recap today and share some of the fun things I did over the weekend so let’s get started! :)

Friday

I had class from 9:30-10:20 then 10:20-11:30! I was hoping that classes would get cancelled because of the snow, but none of mine did. 🙁 All classes were cancelled after 2:30, figures right?!

After class, I got lunch with my friend Sydney and her boyfriend Zach. It was snowing so hard on our walk back.

I took a nice nap after, blogged, talked to my mom, and just relaxed until dinner with my friends. After dinner, my friends and I just chilled in my room, listened to music, and my roomie and I split a pint of Ben&Jerry’s.

I planned on just having a chill night in, but my friends in a different dorm texted me inviting me over and to go out to a party at 10. My friend Shannon and I decided to be spontaneous and go out because that’s what life’s all about-not always having a plan and being open to last minute things. I’m so glad we did too, it was a fun night!

We stayed out until around 12:30, came back, and caught up with some other friends about our night. I went to bed around 1:30, and slept in the next morning which was amazing.

Saturday

I woke up around 11:30, made myself some food, then FaceTimed my best friend Maria who goes to a different college. I’m visiting her this weekend and I am so, so excited. Love her to pieces and she really is like a sister to me!

After FaceTiming Maria, I went to the gym with my friend Jen. I came back, did some homework, then got dinner! My friends and I went to a party that night so we all got ready, showered, and did hair/makeup together.

There used to be a time where I wouldn’t let myself wear certain things. I didn’t like tight clothes because I thought I wasn’t “skinny” enough or had the right body type. I didn’t feel confident in outfits like the one I was wearing Saturday night. I would’ve felt extremely insecure and self-conscious. But I have come to the point where I realize that I don’t have to have the perfect body and can wear whatever the heck I want. No one has the perfect body, not a single individual out there. You can wear crop tops even if your stomach isn’t completely and totally flat with a six-pack, you can wear a tight dress and skinny jeans- you can wear WHATEVER you want: you do not need to have what you deem to be the “perfect” and “tiny” body to wear something. Confidence comes from within: and you should feel confident in whatever you wear. You will look beautiful, and you have to believe that: you have to tell yourself that you are beautiful. You don’t need anyone else’s approval but your own.

Sunday

After nights out, I love sleeping in. I think it’s good to let yourself rest and get out of the routine you usually have for the week. I slept in, showered, and my brother came and took me to lunch. We got Panera Bread. It was so good seeing him and I was so happy he drove out to see me. After Panera, we got coffee and he helped me bring some stuff back into my dorm (waters, fruit, etc). I finished up some homework, napped, and got dinner with my friends. We watched a bit of the game at dinner, then I came back and finished my homework. I also FaceTimed my mom and caught up with her which is always awesome. Love her to pieces.

Sunday’s are usually a very low-key, relaxing day for me, which I think is very important to have in life. You don’t need top be going at all times, it is crucial to let yourself do absolutely nothing sometimes- let yourself rest, we all need it! And you should NEVER feel guilty for giving yourself some R&R. 🙂

Now tell me,

Favorite Ben&Jerry’s flavor?

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Thanks for reading guys! Hope you have a great Monday :)

You weekend sounded like fun. Lovely pics 🙂 and that snow, how awesome. I am always fascinated by snow, as here in Durban South Africa, it just does not snow.
Have a lovely week, Lyss. x

Your snowing picture is gorgeous! It is 80 degrees out right now and it is only 7 am, so I cannot fathom having snow right now!

Favorite Ben & Jerry’s Flavor: Either S’mores or Cake Batter. 🙂

    Happy Monday!

Looks like you had a great weekend!! I never lived in the dorms in college but your pics make it look like so much fun! 🙂 My favorite Ben & Jerry’s flavor is Half Baked and the highlight of my weekend was having my brothers home and watching the Super Bowl!

You always looks so fabulous when you go out! You have an eye of what looks good on you, I’m jealous of that 🙂 My favorite B&J flavor…hmm…I haven’t had it in a while but I’d say peanut butter core. I love PB cookie dough. I’m glad you had a restful weekend 🙂

    • Reply Alyssa February 9, 2016 at 2:07 am

aw thank you so much, you are so sweet and beautiful as well Ellie! Peanut butter core is soooo delicious. Anything with Pb is awesome! 🙂

Definitely making me miss some dorm life right now. I love that you choose to spread your joys with all of us. And shout it to the roof tops to wear whatever you please! We see you looking rockin’ in absolutely anything you put on.
Sad confession time. I’ve never had B&J. Its not really a big thing in Canada. But all you guys make the flavor selections sound ridiculous.

    • Reply Alyssa February 9, 2016 at 2:48 pm

Thank you so much Cora!! You are so sweet <3 B&J is really amazing. So many flavors to choose from! I love any kind of ice cream tho haha 🙂

Just came across your blog! Love finding fellow college bloggers. I’m with you on Friday classes not being cancelled. I’m in southern NH and our classes were called off at 3p, but I was trucking around campus all morning haha! Love that you said, “You don’t need anyone else’s approval but your own.” TRUTH. Rock it lady.

Some of the best memories of mine from college were the spontaneous nights my friends and I would decide to go out. I miss sleeping in like I did in college on the weekends! I always had early morning classes so I hardly ever got classes cancelled either! Enjoy this time in your life because it goes by WAYYY too fast. I miss college so much!
