Hi guys and happy Friday!! I didn’t have time for a Friday Favorites, so I thought I would still post today (even though it’s later in the day). I was so busy yesterday studying for a social psych test that I didn’t have time to write out a post (my bad) but school and sleep first!
This week was long and very busy. Definitely stressful at some points but that’s part of the game as a college student; and that’s part of the game in any part of life- there are going to be some stressful moments. But it is so important to put your health first-both your mental and physical health.
Thank you nuts.com for allowing me to share some of my favorite tips to stay healthy , whether it’s at work or as a full-time student! Nuts.com has some great snacks too, especially for when you need something quick on the go, so make sure to check out their snack page too. 🙂
I use to be a big perfectionist when it came to school. I had to get straight A’s and if I didn’t, I would consider myself a failure. I spent so many hours on schoolwork and trying to be perfect that I literally drove myself crazy. It was not healthy, at all. I am perfectly content with B’s now. Of course I try in school, but I am not going to lose sleep over an assignment. I am not going to pull all-nighters to finish something. I find that risking my physical and mental health for the sake of an A is not worth it. So what do I do to stay “healthy?” Being “healthy” for me is finding balance in all aspects of my life- friends, family, schoolwork, exercise, the foods I eat, etc. etc.
The way my schedule works this semester (On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s) I have time to work out before class. I love heading to the gym on those days to have time to clear my head and be alone. On Mondays, Wednesday’s, and Friday’s, I have class earlier so I don’t have time to; however I love stretching in the mornings to get some blood flowing in my body and get me ready for the day. During my free time between classes, I try one with cookies and ice cream and cake. So some days for lunch I’ll get a big salad, but maybe other days I’ll get something less “healthy” like a sandwich and potato chips/fries or a dessert with lunch like hot cocoa with whip cream. 🙂 Taking breaks in college is also essential to your health. Don’t overdo it- you need to remember to put yourself first at all times. If you are more tired one day, don’t force yourself to work out. If you have been studying for 2 hours, go take a break and get out of the library to maybe go for a walk or see a friend. Breaks are crucial for your well-being. Also, this is a kinda silly/self-explanatory way I make sure to stay physically healthy: drink a lot of water! I am always carrying around a water bottle to classes or when I am walking around campus. If I don’t drink enough water, I will get a bad headache. I also love drinking coffee/tea, especially while studying. I find that having something to sip on keeps me more focused and energized. Something else I do as a college student is keep snacks with me: sometimes I won’t have time to head back to my room so keeping snacks on hand is key! Some of my favorites are trail mix, granola bars like quest/lara/kind/luna/cliff, pretzels, and fruit! And for this next one: if you are a college student, keep your room clean and always lysol- seriously so so important! There are so many gross germs going around a college campus. Always make sure to wash your hands since you don’t wanna be catchin pink-eye (happened to me first semester). I always make sure to clean my desk and carry around hand-sanitizer with me.
So if you are a full-time student/worker, please make sure to prioritize your mental and physical health too. Taking time for yourself and to do things that make you happy will just enhance your overall well-being.
So tell me,
What are your favorite snacks on the go?
Are you a fan of naps?
Hope you guys have a great weekend!
