Stop seeking External Validation

January 30, 2017 in Recovery

Hi frandzzzz. Happy Monday!! How were all your weekends?! Whatever you did I hope you had tons of fun and got some rest in!!

I wanted to make a video for today’s post because if ya know me, you know I love talking about deep things and could probably ramble on forever about some stuff. So why not put my awkwardness and rambles into video form, am I right?! This has been a topic that’s been on my mind the last week or so, and I really wanted to discuss it with y’all! Because the way we feel about ourselves should never be determined by someone else. We should never, ever put our validation and self-worth in the hands of others. Alllll of that comes from WITHIN!

Thank you for watching and for just being so awesome!!

If you have any thoughts, drop ’em below!! You already know I love reading them. 🙂

Have a lovely Monday friends. ?

I saw the title of this post and I was thinking, ‘Ouch.’ That’s me. I’m often seeking validation from anywhere but in Christ. It’s always empty to seek validation from anywhere else, but I’m so distractable.

we all seek validation from time to time, it is so easy to fall into that trap!

I Love this post, it is so true to the core of us as humans. External validation is wonderful who doesn’t like to be told they are beautiful, or wow what a great blog you did Alyssa, but what if none said that to you it is then up to you to know hey I don’t need anyone to tell me that because you know what I already no that, but……. it is till nice when people do take notice but it doesn’t define your happiness. So my dear you have matured so much and I am so so proud of you!! I say that not to make you happy but because it is true! LOVE YA

it doesn’t define our happiness and it never should. love ya mama!

This is something I’ve struggled with as well. Specifically in seeking friendships to make me feel valuable or “normal”. But you’re right. Other people cannot make us feel good about ourselves ultimately.

you’re so right in that it is us that can makes us feel good about ourselves! thanks for your input michal!

Great video on a topic I deal with every day. Sometimes comparison and the need to please gets good work out of me, but most times I just feel miserable.

yep. comparison has the tendency to do that to us!

I definitely struggle with this too! I also think that I seek it out when I “feel like” I deserve it!

Loved this video and love you! I think it’s very common in girls especially our age to seek that external validation. I think part of it is finding yourself and learning who you are and loving it. Honestly I feel like we are so so blessed to have struggled with an ED and other mental health issues and abusive relationships. From all those experiences we have gotten to be introspective and taken time to learn about ourselves- the deep stuff. I am starting to ramble lol but I am so so proud of you!

Soooo much yes to this post. I struggled with this a lot too, and sometimes I still do. It’s hard in the dance world because you’re always seeking approval from your teachers/professors about if you’re doing well or not. I’m so glad you’re so much happier now!! 🙂 Love you so much!
