Friday Rambles 2/26/16

February 26, 2016 in About Me / College

Hi guys and happy Friday!! This week has been SO busy- had two papers and a big test and had a speaking event Wednesday night. Safe to say I’m pretty tired as I’m writing this this Thursday night.

Gonna do same rambling this Friday about my week, so lets get started!

-On Monday, I got lunch with my friend Henry. After, I had to meet with my professor for some feedback on an english paper. I spent the night studying at the lib for my abnormal psych test.

-I worked out Tuesday morning then decided to make a sweet potato with some peanut butter,  yogurt, and pear for breakfast because I was feelin something different. BOY it was good. I had class, volunteered at the veteran hospital from 1:00-3:00, then went to Philosophy and passed in my paper which was a relief. I got dinner with my best friend Shan after class. I am soooo proud of her because she got a spot as a peer mentor at my college which is a very competitive position. She rocks 🙂  I spent the night at the lib studying for my test.

-Wednesday was a very busy day. I had two classes in the morning, went to study after, went to class, then my parents came up to take me to dinner before my speech. As it is NEDA week, I got asked to talk and share my story at my school. Walden, the place I received treatment at, held an informational panel about eating disorders and contacted me to share my recovery story. Despite the fears of being judged and despite this experience being different than other speeches I have done in the fact that I go to school with these people; I decided to hop on this opportunity and push aside those doubts. I spoke about my journey and my recovery from anorexia. I won’t lie, I was very nervous. But once I started speaking, my nerves eased and I felt more comfortable. I am glad I decided to speak and even if I just reached out to once person in that audience and inspired them to get on the path to recovery, that brings me so much joy in itself.

Some of my friends came and I am so thankful for their support, as well as the support of my parents. Just incredibly blessed. After the speech, I went and studied with some friends and got my late night coffee fix while cramming for abnormal psychology. Gotta love those late nights!! (Sarcasm) But I genuinely do really love this class- makes me excited to go into this field when I am older and help people beat mental illnesses and find happiness in their lives again!

-On Thursday, I got breakfast at Dunkin Donuts while doing some last minute review before my test. I took my test which wasn’t too bad, then headed to the library to get some lunch and finish up an english paper. I skipped my second class of my college career (OMG) which I am fine with because I was exhausted, had a huge headache, and quite frankly just can’t do it all sometimes which is OKAY. You can give yourself a break- putting yourself and your well-being first is NOT selfish! Later on in the day, I went to the gym then got dinner with my friend Jillian. After, we went to a movie screening of the short film “Killing us Softly 4.” It was shown as part of NEDA week at my school, and talked about the false media portrayal of what beauty really is and how ads are so deceiving. It was so interesting and eye-opening- definitely recommend checking it out.

(Also random shoutout to chai tea lattes for saving me at the lib this week)

-And for Friday, I plan on going to my two classes in the morning, volunteering with Best Buddies, then coming home to take a nap haha. I am pooped from this week! I plan on going out with some friends tomorrow night which will be fun; but not too sure of the plans yet so we shall see!

Now tell me:

Where do you do most of your studying?

What is your favorite type of tea?

Hope you guys have a great day!

Sending my love as always.

Xoxo

LOL no since I live by myself I like studying in my apartment, it’s nice and quiet. While I’m studying, I love sipping on some Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger tea, or some Yogi Ginger tea! My faves 🙂 Hope you have an awesome weekend love!

I love kava kava tea at night and green tea in the morning. In college, I studied at the library a lot and in grad school, I studied at Starbucks all the time.

ACK. Your week sounds like it was crazy. Hope you get to relax this weekend! For cold drinks, I like chai too. But for hot teas, I would pick some sort of ginger-y, fruity one.

My school is also showing Kill Us Softly 4 on campus on Monday! Glad to hear you enjoyed it because I’m really looking forward to watching it!

Thanks Kaylee!! I like fruity hot teas too, or just hot green tea 🙂 I hope you enjoy the movie!! It was very eye opening 🙂

Discussing your ED story must’ve taken a lot of courage. It’s hard to air our dirty laundry even if it’s not so dirty anymore. My favorite type of tea is Earl Grey Lavender. It’s so good especially in a tea latte 🙂 Have a restful weekend Lyss!

Way to go on your presentation! That is so awesome 🙂 I do most of my studying at the library or a quiet coffee shop, and my favorite kind of tea is vanilla chai. Have a wonderful weekend!!

I love, love, love that you spoke about your recovery journey at your school! That’s so awesome girl! Recently discovered a new tea place near campus and they have a carrot cake flavored herbal tea- sweetened with a little stevia and it is heavenly!

My favorite kind of tea is black tea, with lemon and stevia. I’m more of a coffee kinda girl, but I can appreciate a cup of tea every now and then 😉

    Blessings,
