Okay- PERFECT BARS. These bars are legit amazing like if you haven’t tried them please go do yourself a favor and try them.

Also got my new Nuzest protein powder in and I’m loving it!! It’s a plant based protein and I tried the vanilla flavor. 10/10 recommend.

And another food favorite- Trader Joe’s dark chocolate covered almonds. Gimme ’em all please and thanks.

This site though>> They have SO much Lululemon stuff on it which is perfect for the people like me who love Lulu but hate paying the big bucks for it. And a bunch of other cute clothes and brands. Basically you sell your used clothes on it- it’s like online consignment shopping!

Let’s Catch Up

Hi guys! How are ya?! Lol introductions always feel so forced to me. But I hope you’re doing well! I’ve been posting more over at my YouTube channel which has been fun. So check that out if you like watching videos!

So let’s catch up this fine Tuesday. Well- catch up on my life haaaaaa. 🙂

Lately…

-I’ve been working a lot. GNC and babysitting! Good money though which is a positive. And I’m thankful to have two jobs that aren’t too stressful.

-I’ve been watching lots of documentaries!! I highly recommend Missrespresentation, Embrace, Minimalism, and Living on one dollar. All of which are on Netflix!

-I’ve been eating all the rice cakes. They’re so nice because I can always switch up the toppings!

-I’ve been trying to plan a bit for my future. There’s a lot I want to do in this world, so writing down all of those things has been helpful for me. I need to make a big vision board. Any suggestions on how to do those?!

-I’ve been listening to lots of good music. Nahko and Medicine for the People, Trevor Hall, Ben Howard, SOJA, Rebelution, Jack Johnson, Logic… Any of you fans of these people?!

-I’m seeing two concerts this week! City and Color on Thursday and Jack Johnson on Friday.

-I’ve been embracing all the puppy kisses and yoga flows.

-I’ve been mentally preparing for the fact that I’m taking off for a month this summer. I will be living where I am getting certified to teach yoga. Putting my anxieties in his hands, and following my dreams despite the fear that sometimes engulfs my mind. “Wake the dreams into realities” -following that mantra wholeheartedly.

-I’ve been enjoying Whole Foods vegan muffins. Whole Foods bakery in general is just so good. 🙂 And everything there for that matter!

-I’ve been seeing friends. Laughing with them. Trying to dance and making a fool of myself. All the things that make my heart happy. I’ve been encouraging friends too who have been struggling with mental battles. Life is pretty freakin’ tough sometimes guys.

-I’ve been working on my handstands and back flexibility!

Some Recent Eats

My school has had this bomb quinoa salad that I’ve been loving. Quinoa is my fav!

My town has this awesome little health-food place with smoothies and coffees too. I grabbed this smoothie which had almond milk, spinach, banana, dates, and peanut butter. Sooooo yummy.

A Weekend of Intuitive Eating

Hi loves and happy Monday!! Hope you all had a great weekend. 🙂

I wanted to share some eats + rambles with you all today so let’s get started!

First things first: What does intuitive eating mean to me?

Out of all the questions I get asked through this blog/Instagram, I think the most popular ones are those pertaining to intuitive eating. I want to write a post in the near future on how I transitioned to intuitive eating, but today I just want to show you all some eats from a weekend that was definitely a great example of intuitive eating. For me, intuitive eating means being in tune with my body. It is accepting that what I need is different than what someone else needs. It is not denying my cravings: it is accepting and honoring them. Intuitive eating has no rules around food. There is no right or wrong. There is no morality tied to the foods I eat. Intuitive eating is eating when I am hungry, but also eating when I am not hungry.

Friday 

Friday I had plans of getting Chipotle for dinner with a friend. I had the best burrito bowl!

This had brown rice, pinto beans, fajita vegetables, medium salsa, corn, lettuce, and guac!

My bff and I enjoyed our little dinner date and she got on the topic of how much she wanted a smoothie. Then I was like dang a smoothie does sound pretty freakin’ good right no. By no means was I hungry, but I couldn’t get my mind off that smoothie. So we drove to the mall and got ourselves some smoothies! And they were so good.

If I didn’t get a smoothie, I would have been sitting and thinking about it. I would have felt unsatisfied. Sure, I wasn’t hungry. But clearly I had a craving. And if I denied myself of that craving, I wouldn’t have been listening to my body. So I went with what my mind and body were telling me and I was so satisfied!

Saturday 

I went to bed knowing I had plans with my friend and her boyfriend for a meal in the morning, but I didn’t know what time! I rested in the morning until my friend woke up, and we ended up leaving campus around 10:40 to go grab brunch!

We went to the cutest little juice bar. 🙂 I got a smoothie with almond milk, almonds, honey, banana, dates, and cinnamon! And a piece of multigrain toast with egg salad and avocado. So so good! I also tried (and loved) bulletproof coffee!!

In the past, this would have stressed me out. Brunch wasn’t a thing in my book. It was too anxiety-provoking. Do I eat breakfast before hand?? Or lunch after? My disordered brain couldn’t cope with brunch. 

After brunch, I headed back to campus to relax and get some reading done. About two hours after this meal, I had a banana because I was a bit hungry. And then after a workout, I had a snack. (perfect bar and fruit!) Then I went and grabbed dinner an hour after that because I had plans. This is what intuitive eating is to me. Grabbing food when I’m hungry and not worrying about when I ate last, not worrying about when I will eat next; just simply focusing on what my body wants and needs in THAT moment. Food is fun, not something to be stressing over. 

Sunday 

I went out with friends Saturday night and had a great time. I slept in a bit Sunday (10:15 is sleeping in for me!!) When I woke up I took my vitamins and some airborne because I really am trying to keep my immune system well. I had a bowl of Love Grown cereal with raspberries and almond milk plus a vanilla siggis before heading out the door to get some schoolwork done at Starbucks!

I grabbed a veinti skinny vanilla latte with coconut milk at Starbucks while reading for my Theories of Personality class. After about two hours, I left and headed to the grocery to pick up some food. When I got back to my room (around 2:30) I snacked on some rice cakes with peanut butter and celery with hummus while watching One Tree Hill. 🙂 About an hour and a half later I had another snack (cliff bar + kombucha!) And around 6 ish I had dinner plans before church.

When I got back from church, I was craving a Lenny and Larry’s cookie, so I obviously had one of those.

It is okay to eat close together. Because I slept in a little later, my meals were kind of all over the place. But it’s okay because my body knows what’s up. I just started my day with a bowl of cereal, but right before i left for Starbucks my body was like yoooo I’m hungry so I grabbed a yogurt while running out the door! And while I was watching One Tree Hill, I was thinking about how much I wanted a kombucha so I grabbed one. Simple as that. 

If you deny your body of what it wants, you aren’t going to stop thinking about it. That’s when food obsession comes in. If you want the latte instead of just a black coffee go get the freaking latte. If you want the cookie eat the cookie. The more you deny yourself of what you actually want, the more you’re brain is going to be clouded by thoughts of food.

Weekend Recap: Psychic, Starbucks, & More

It’s Mondayyyy. Another new week coming our way. ALSO CAN I GET A HILLL YAAA for the Pats winning!! Jeez what a game and a comeback!!

Going to be recappin’ my weekend for y’all today so let’s get started! 🙂

Friday

I started my day with a leg workout. I was home Thursday night- Friday b/c of a dermatologist appointment Thursday afternoon! And I wanted to see the rents. 🙂 After my workout I came home, showered, ate breakfast, then headed back to school for my class at 11:30!

I got lunch with my friend Krista after class then my friends Leah and Rachel joined me to go see a psychic. (Crazy IK lol). It was actually super super cool and I’m glad I did it and got to experience it!! After we went to Bertuccis and talked about our readings over dinner. The lady was so cool and I feel like she definitely knew what she was doing.

After dinner, I came back to campus and spent time with my best friend Jillian. Jillian, my roommate Jen and I went to see a movie that was playing in the dining commons! We got chais too. Super relaxing yet fun night. After Jillian and I just chatted for about two hours. Love and cherish our talks so much.

Saturday 

Saturday morning I got up around 9:00. I caught up on blogs, ate some breakfast, watched YouTube videos, then went to Starbucks to do some homework & my devotionals with my friends Jillian and Jenna. After Starbucks, Jillian and I hit the gym for an upper body lift! Then we ate some food and chatted for a bit after. And fell asleep trying to do hw… hey it happens.

I got dinner with Jillian and Jenna, then went back to my room to get ready for the night. I went out with my friends and had a really fun time. 🙂

Sunday

I got up around 9:30 not physically feeling my best. (hey, it happens after a night out. But people, that is BALANCE. And that is LIVING. You aren’t always gonna feel A1, but that’s okay. Making those memories with friends is 10000% worth it. Trust me on that one!!)

I left school around 10:15 to grab a coffee and drive to work at GNC back home. I was covering someone’s shift and I definitely could use the money! I worked 12:00-6:00. After work, I came home and ate dinner (CHIPOTLEE!!), worked on some reading, and watched the Superbowl with my parents.

And you bet this bad boy was consumed. Seriously my fave flavor of all the So Delicious ice creams. SO YUMMY!

And that was what my weekend consisted of. Nice balance of fun + me time + work time. 🙂

  1. I was featured on Paige’s podcast Nutrition Matter’s! I was so so so excited to work with Paige and get the chance to talk with her. She is an amazing lady and is doing so much good in the world of nutrition!
  2. I got to get lunch with my Best Buddy Tricia on Thursday. We went to Subway and she got a free sub because it was national sandwich day!
  3. I did well on my developmental psych exam. 🙂

Top 3 Lows

  1. Feeling lots of pressure- a lot of which I just put on myself, and cracking under all that pressure
  2. Being super emotional. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being emotional, but this week I was more so than usual and cried quite a bit.
  3. I won’t get to see my best friend from high school on her 20th bday which sucks! 🙁

Am I hungry…?

Hi guys and happy Thursdayyyy! I hope you have been having a great week so far.

Am I hungry? Hunger is something that is natural. It’s a sign we need food. If we’ve gone a while without food, we will probably get hungry. We eat when we’re hungry, we stop when we’re full. You’ve probably heard that statement like 5000 times, or at least I have from treatment to different pieces on intuitive eating to all over Instagram.

But the thing is, I eat when I’m not hungry. Does that make me a “bad eater?” I don’t think so! What I think is bad is how much emphasis we put on hunger and this idea that we should only eat if we feel hunger.

Let’s take a look at some recent eats lately and talk about how I was feeling during that time hunger-wise.

I had this peanut toffee buzz cliff bar for a snack last week while studying for an exam. Was I hungry when I ate this? Nope! I was actually kind of nauseous. But I still ate it anyways because I wanted something to munch on and give me fuel while I was studying.

I had this breakfast for lunch this weekend. I was pretty hungry before this! I had vanilla yogurt with granola and mango, and Special K Red Berries with unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

I had this Bobo cinnamon raisin oat bar and decaf tea while doing homework the other night. I wasn’t particularly hungry but I wanted a snack and I love these bars, so I ate it. Simple as that.

I wasn’t hungry for this cookie at all. My stomach had cramps beforehand during class, but I was craving something sweet and I didn’t want to deny myself of what I was craving. So I had a Lenny&Larry’s cookie (one of my fave flavors)!

So clearly, I eat when I’m not hungry. When I’m stressed, my appetite has the tendency to dwindle and my stomach will hurt but I still eat anyways. I’ll still eat dessert when I’m not hungry. Or snacks. Or meals. Sometimes I just want something and I’ll eat it. Does that mean I’m not an intuitive eater? Who knows. I think I am! I don’t put a big emphasis on food and what I eat. Food is not the center of my life and the only thing I think about. I have a whole lot of other interests and things that make me happy now that food isn’t the center of my life.

When we become so fixated on when we are hungry or not or if we should eat something because we aren’t necessarily hungry, we think about food: a lot. I’ve been there, and it gets exhausting. It’s like a mental battle of whether you should eat something or not. And then if you don’t have it because you don’t feel like you are “hungry” or not, you may just continue to think about it. Sometimes our minds need the food and the fuel. And our bodies do as well.

It’s all about finding that happy medium for yourself. We are all different and unique in our needs. Do what’s best for you. And don’t put so much thought into food and into whether or not you should eat something. Listen to your body and listen to your cravings. Our bodies need food, but sometimes we need food for our souls too. Because we all know a warm cookie after a stressful day can just make us feel so freakin’ goooood.

Hi guys and happy Friday! I’m home for Columbus Day weekend and I’m so excited to have a little break from school and see my fam. 🙂 Going to be sharing some things currently going on in my life now so let’s get started!

Pumpkin spice coffee with almond milk from Dunkin Donuts, Iced green tea mixed with iced passion tea from Starbucks (SO GOOD) and chai tea lattes with soy milk from Starbucks!

Been loving these Perfect Bars (Almond butter is my FAVE) and these Pumkin & Spice Siggi’s yogurts!

Current workout

Still loving lifting weights, but this week I ran for 2 miles and it felt great! Haven’t done that in a while but my body was loving it.

Current procrastination

The homework I have to do this weekend and the studying I have for an exam on Wednesday. It will get done… it always does!

Current confession

I mentioned on Instagram and on here before (maybe not?) that I have a boyfriend now. So unexpected and was really the last thing I expected going into my sophomore year, but I am super blessed to have him in my life and he makes me really happy. 🙂

Current need

To do my nails! It’s been too long.

Current craving

More Lululemon or Athleta… I love their clothes so so much! Just wish they weren’t so pricey!

Current blessing

All the amazing people in my life! I am so blessed to have friends and family that have my back and are constantly there for me. God put some pretty amazing people in my life. <3
